...wake up
each morning literally on this course...

The Alcaidesa Links Golf Course, designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark is the first competition standard golf course in Spain which falls into the Links category. It offers a most authentic and exciting way of playing golf, consisting of 5766 metres with 18 holes Par 72. Its spectacular layout borders the beach amidst hills and natural vegetation. Whilst playing it, there is no way to escape the silent presence of the majestic rock of Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains of Africa which mark the distant horizon. It is great fun playing here when there is a little sea breeze in the air. The course is very much in harmony with the spectacular view over the Mediterranean sea and the massive rock of Gibraltar which dominates a large part of the course. Alcaidesa's golf course has been specifically named a "links" course due to its coastline location. The type of soil, layout and breadth of the landing areas are well suited to players of all ages and abilities who are looking for a good day of golfing without having to bend the ball one way or the other. The greens are not oversized or too complicated, but to card a good score, you will need to hit it straight and have a good short game.

Wake up each morning literally on this course!

In 2007 a second challenging 18-hole course was added to the Alcaidesa golf complex called the Alcaidesa Heathland Golf Course. In addition a new state of the art golf clubhouse with panoramic views, driving range, pro shop and a restaurant etc was built to service both courses.

San Roque Golf course is 6494 meters with 18 holes Par 72. This attractively landscaped course is both challenging and fair. Fairways are wide and lined with mature trees. Water comes into play on many holes and the course is noted for its huge bunkers. This course is a tremendous challenge and a favourite with UK golfers. The 18th hole is one of the finest finishing holes in Europe. Inside the club, some of the most popular attractions include: The Severiano Ballesteros Natural Golf School, who later redesigned this golf course. The school is open every day of the year and has a number of programmes for beginners through to advanced players, ensuring you retain the true passion for the game whilst perfecting your pitch and putt.

Valderrama Golf Club is arguably the best golf course in Europe and is a full competition length of 5995 metres with 18 holes Par 72. Lush tree lined fairways and immaculate elevated greens give this course the recognition it so deserves. The best players in the world have played here. Need we say more? Host to the 1997 Ryder Cup. A private club with limited access between 12:00h and 14:00h. Valderrama has gained international fame through the strength of the proprietor Jaime Ortiz Patino, who not only insisted on making changes to the original layout (notably the 17th hole) but also insisted on exceptional standards of course maintenance. Without this, the course would not be rated as high as it is. The 17th hole on Valderrama is named 'Las Gabiones'. It is also the most talked about hole on the course. Measuring 455 meters from the Championship tees, it has been the scene of many dramatic moments in competition golf. All shots need accuracy and good distance judgment, especially the second, as the third shot over the water to the green is probably the most exciting shot of the day for any visiting golfer. The strategic difficulty, omnipresent trees, the size of the bunkers and a few water hazards keep the player constantly attentive to every stroke. The pressure is made worse when it comes to reading the greens. Don't bother playing to your handicap, as even the top champions find making par a tough enough challenge at Valderrama.
